3Squared have been awarded runner-up at the Rail Freight Group 2018 awards for “Innovation and Technical Development”.
The award was for the Mobile Consisting Application, a collaboration between 3Squared, Network Rail, CACI and BAE Systems. The Mobile Consisting Application digitises the whole train preparation process doing away with paper allowing freight operators to improve right time departures out of ports and terminals.
A complex project from the outset that had to integrate with the TOPS heritage system for the validation of consists and features a workflow based data capture approach for the consisting of container and aggregate freight trains.
Co-founders Tim Jones and James Fox received the prize at the awards event. Tim commented “We are really pleased with the result at RFG awards, the MCA project was a collaboration that brought together the skills and capabilities of all those involved to successfully deliver a digital transformation project that’s bringing real benefit to the industry’
The MCA application now forms part of the 3Squared RailSmart product suite and the application and TOPS API is available for use by all of those within the Rail Freight sector.
